Meet Josh, one of our amazing guest speakers for our next Citizen Talks event. Josh is a 29-year-old freelance digital marketing strategist and adviser from Los Angeles, and he’s really good at it.

We asked Josh 5 questions so you can get to know him a little better, too.

  1. When and why did you move to Tel Aviv?
I moved to Tel Aviv accidentally in 2013. I was on Taglit-Birthright, my first time in Israel, and fell in love with Tel Aviv, so I didn’t get back on the plane to Los Angeles. A few months later, I had an apartment at Dizengoff-Ben Gurion and was living the Tel Avivian dream. My mother was less-than-thrilled.
  2. What was your welcome-to-Tel-Aviv moment?
When I moved here, I went to a club and everyone there was Jewish … the bouncer, the bartenders, the DJ, most of the people there … I had never been surrounded by so many Jews in a party setting like that before.
  3. What’s your best advice for internationals living in Tel Aviv?
Learn Hebrew, and make as many Israeli friends as possible.
  4. Where can we find you on a typical Thursday night?
Eating at a new restaurant (just recently tried Meshek Barzilay), and then either Culi Alma or Tepale.
  5. What’s your favorite Hebrew word or phrase?
פצצות לגבות – an older expression, literally meaning “bombs to the eyebrows,” that is used to mean awesome, great or fantastic
