Meet Josh, one of our amazing guest speakers for our next Citizen Talks event. Josh is a 29-year-old freelance digital marketing strategist and adviser from Los Angeles, and he’s really good at it.
We asked Josh 5 questions so you can get to know him a little better, too.
- When and why did you move to Tel Aviv?
I moved to Tel Aviv accidentally in 2013. I was on Taglit-Birthright, my first time in Israel, and fell in love with Tel Aviv, so I didn’t get back on the plane to Los Angeles. A few months later, I had an apartment at Dizengoff-Ben Gurion and was living the Tel Avivian dream. My mother was less-than-thrilled. - What was your welcome-to-Tel-Aviv moment?
When I moved here, I went to a club and everyone there was Jewish … the bouncer, the bartenders, the DJ, most of the people there … I had never been surrounded by so many Jews in a party setting like that before. - What’s your best advice for internationals living in Tel Aviv?
Learn Hebrew, and make as many Israeli friends as possible. - Where can we find you on a typical Thursday night?
Eating at a new restaurant (just recently tried Meshek Barzilay), and then either Culi Alma or Tepale. - What’s your favorite Hebrew word or phrase?
פצצות לגבות – an older expression, literally meaning “bombs to the eyebrows,” that is used to mean awesome, great or fantastic
