Pick-up lines seem to be a lost art these days, but sometimes hearing then in a language that’s not your mother tongue can be pretty hilarious.

Here are some of the most old-school Hebrew pick-up lines translated into English.

1. The oldest line in the book

Direct translation: Is your dad a gardener? So how did he come out with such a flower?

Because you’re beautiful, like a flower. Get it?

2. Why you’re tired

Direct translation: What, you aren’t tired? Because you’ve been running through my mind all day.

Yeah, we’ve all heard this one. And we’re tired of this line, too.

3. You’re the bomb

Direct translation: Is your dad a bomb technician? So how did he come out with such an explosion?

*facepalm*

4. This one hurts

Direct translation: Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?

What hurts is that people still think this works.

5. The standard opening line

Direct translation: Come here often?

An unfortunate but classic line.

6. In case you forgot to smile

Direct translation: Can I get a smile?

No.

7. You’re an angel, girl.

Direct translation: Do you have a phone? I want to call god and let him know that one of his angels fell.

Wow! That’s a major spin on: “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven.”
