Considering moving to Tel Aviv, or perhaps you already call the White City home? We have put together a Tel Aviv Survival Kit to ensure you have everything you need to live like a true local. Acquire all the items on this list, and you will be perfectly equipped to live the good life in Tel Aviv.

Never leave home without a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from the blaring Middle Eastern sun.

Take advantage of the refreshing Mediterranean Sea as often as possible.

But don’t forget to slather on some sunscreen, or you may regret it later!

Reusable Bags

Having cloth bags is always handy in Tel Aviv, especially when you’re getting some groceries from the busy shuk. All those fresh fruits and veggies can get pretty heavy, and the flimsy plastic bags rip easily. Plus, it’s nicer to the environment.

Reusable Water Bottle

It’s smart to always stay hydrated wherever you go, especially in the summertime.

Electric Bike/Scooter

It’s possible to walk pretty much anywhere in this small city, but if you don’t want to arrive to your destination drenched in sweat, get an electric bike or scooter. Then you can zoom all over Tel Aviv in style.

*Do NOT forget to get a strong bike lock! Invest in a high-quality lock to keep your new bike or scooter safe, otherwise it will get stolen.

A Dog

Did you know that Tel Aviv has the most dogs per capita? To really become a true local, rescue a sweet pup from a shelter. Then you’ll have a very happy companion always by your side in this dog-friendly city.

Ear Plugs

With all the yelling, honking, and endless construction, keep some ear plugs by your bed. Otherwise you may have some sleepless nights.

Locals eat bowls of their beloved hummus any chance they can. Get used to eating it several times a week for lunch and passionately arguing about which place serves up the best bowl.

In the wintertime, Tel Aviv can experience some intense storms. Don’t get caught in the rain unprepared.

To celebrate living in such a great city, end your day with Israel’s favorite anise-flavored alcohol—it’s great mixed with lemonade and mint. L’chaim!
